Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED. Significant cooking experience can be considered in lieu of degree.
  • One (1) year of experience as a cook
  • Experience in institutional/food service operation or similar industry preferred.
  • Ability to use various knives for trimming, prepping, or chopping meats and vegetables

Responsibilities

  • Follow recipes, including measuring, weighing and mixing ingredients.
  • Bake, roast, grill, steam and boil meats, vegetables, fish, poultry and other foods.
  • Wash, peel, cut, and seed fruits and vegetables to prepare for consumption.
  • Ensure ingredients and final products are fresh
  • Portion, arrange, garnish and present final dishes
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area, including handling utensils, equipment and dishes
  • Handle and store ingredients and food
  • Monitor station inventory levels
  • Set up workstations with required ingredients and equipment
  • Operate kitchen equipment such as broilers, ovens, grills and fryers

University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy is looking for a Cook. The Cook plans, prepares, and cooks food items to ensure the highest quality service and experience for customers. They help keep the kitchen organized and running efficiently. They ensure proper food handling, sanitation and following food storage procedures. This is a full-time, hourly, four-day, year round position entitled to University insurance, retirement and time off benefits.
