Job summary

NHC Place St. Peters Memory Care in Saint Peters, MO seeks a Dietary Cook to join our Food Nutrition Service Team. You will prepare meals using standardized recipes and ensure proper portions for all residents and customers.

You will review menus, accommodate special diets, handle food safely, and coordinate tray service to floors with emphasis on quality, timing, and patient satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Experience in healthcare food service preferred, not required.
• Must follow standardized recipes and dietary orders.
• Ability to test and adjust foods for appearance, flavor, aroma and temperature.

Responsibilities

• Assist in receiving and storing food and supplies; date, label and store items properly.
• Review menus and production sheets; prepare meals according to diet orders and portions.
• Prepare meals in sufficient quantities to meet service requirements.
• Test and taste foods for appearance, flavor, aroma and temperature; adjust as needed.
• Coordinate timing of meal preparation to meet service times and deliver trays as needed.
• Check trays for diet accuracy before delivery; assist on tray line and carts.

Position: Cook

NHC fosters an environment of teamwork and provides opportunities in a culinary environment in a healthcare setting. The Dietary Cook performs specified duties to maintain high standards of quality food preparation, production, service, and portion control, using standardized recipes, for all customers.

Position Highlights:

• Assists in receiving and storing food and supplies to prevent waste and assure quality products. Dates, labels, and stores items properly. Uses proper food handling techniques.
• Review's menus, therapeutic menus, recipes, and production sheets before preparing meals; prepares and serves diets properly, accurately, and attractively as planned using proper portions and special diet items.
• Follows standardized recipes and special diet orders, preparing sufficient quantities to meet all service requirements.
• Responsible for testing and tasting foods of all consistencies for proper appearance, flavor, aroma, and temperature and adjust if needed.
• Responsible for timing of preparation of meals/snacks to meet time schedule for service for patients and customers to ensure all meals/snacks are served as scheduled.
• Checks trays for accuracy of diets, preferences, and quality before they are delivered. Serves on tray line and delivers carts to floors as needed.
