Corewell Health in St. Joseph, Michigan, is seeking a part-time cook to assist in preparing meals for patients, guests and team members across hospital food service operations, including hot and cold menus, room service, and grab-and-go markets.

You will follow standardized recipes, prepare ingredients, and ensure safe handling and labeling of foods. The role involves scale-up and line assembly for patient trays, coordination with other kitchen staff, and maintaining temperature logs.

Qualifications

• Required: High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Preferred: 1 year of relevant experience in food preparation/serving.
• Vocational/Technical Vocational courses in food preparation.

Job Summary

Passionate about creating great food options for our patients, guest and team members. Our Cooks are a key component in the product and execution of all hot and cold meals served in our restaurants, room service, and grab & go markets. These components are Line cooking, Prep cooking, Vegetable prep, Short order cooking, Catering, and Mise en Place.

Essential Functions

Assembles and prepares ingredients for cooking by cleaning and cutting. Follows standardized recipes, calculation ingredients based on weight and volume. Records temperatures correctly on temperature log sheets. Responsible to replace food items that do not fit standards. Stores food items as required, labeling and dating items per standards. Utilizes leftovers within allotted time. Sets up steam tables on patient and cafeteria tray lines. Communicates with other staff members to ensure continuity and coordination of services.

Primary Location SITE - Lakeland Hospital St Joseph - 1234 Napier Ave - St Joseph. Department Name Nutrition St Joseph - Niles and St Joseph Hosp.

Employment Type: Part time.

Shift: Variable (United States of America).

Weekly Scheduled Hours: 32 Hours of Work Variable.

Days Worked: Monday to Friday.

Weekend Frequency: Every other weekend.
