Norman Regional Health System and Oceans Healthcare have partnered to expand access to behavioral health services in south central Oklahoma through construction of a new, state-of-the-art behavioral hospital, opening Summer 2024.

The Behavioral Health Center at Porter Health Village, a 48-bed facility, will significantly increase Norman Regional’s inpatient capacity for adult and senior behavioral health patients, adding new services including an intensive outpatient program and a dedicated geriatric behavioral health unit. The hospital will be located on the Norman Regional Porter campus, replacing the existing 20-bed behavioral health unit.

The Cook performs a variety of volume food preparation tasks, plans cooking schedules, and directs the work of assistants in a professional manner. Ensures patient satisfaction and adheres to all relevant regulations and standards.

Essential Functions:

• Plans daily cooking schedule to meet deadlines and follows standardized recipes.
• Directs the work of assistants and aides professionally.
• Prepares and serves meals according to menus, physician orders, resident preferences, and therapeutic diet guidelines.
• Serves food at proper temperatures and records these temperatures.
• Makes food substitutions within food groups as directed.
• Serves food on tray line at mealtime.
• Cleans, sanitizes, and maintains kitchen equipment following cleaning assignments.
• Prepares for the following day's menu.
• Adheres to all policies and procedures.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Completion of culinary school. Preferred minimum of 2 years experience as a cook in a nursing home or hospital setting.

Must be able to read, write, follow recipes, use measurements, and understand therapeutic diets. Proficient in cooking duties within three months. Ability to plan, organize, and meet deadlines. Must complete CPR certification and an Oceans-approved behavioral health de-escalation program.

This position involves high-paced, stressful environments, with work requiring physical exertion, heavy lifting, and exposure to high temperatures and chemicals.
