Job summary

The Salvation Army in Mobile, AL is looking for a part-time cook to prepare nutritious meals for large groups in a community kitchen. You will follow established guidelines and schedules while keeping the dining area clean and safe.

Responsibilities include assisting with meal prep, proper food storage, inventory, and processing donations. Certifications in food handling and Serv-Safe are encouraged, with a valid driver’s license helpful.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One year cooking experience for large groups.
• State-issued food handling certification.
• Serv-Safe certification or ability to obtain it.
• Valid State Driver's License is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Assist in meal preparation and safe cooking practices.
• Store, refrigerate, and freeze foods properly.
• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen and dining areas.
• Manage inventory to meet kitchen needs and process donations.
• Receive donated goods and document gifts-in-kind.

Schedule/Hours: Days/hours vary; (28 hours per week)This position is responsible for:Prepares, cooks and serves nutritional meals and snacks in accordance with established guidelines and schedules. Ensures meals are prepared and served in a safe and presentable manner.Key Responsibilities:Assists in preparation of meals. Stores, refrigerates, and freezes foods in a safe mannerCleans dining area. Cleans kitchen facilities and equipment. Maintains high degree of cleanliness in kitchen and dining areaMaintain inventory of kitchen food and supplies to meet needs of kitchen.
