Job summary

Friendship Village Kalamazoo is seeking a compassionate Cook to join our culinary team. You will prepare all food items per standardized recipes and production sheets, with a starting pay of $17.00 per hour. The role offers a schedule of four 10-hour shifts per week with every other weekend, and employee meals during shifts.

Qualifications

Friendship Village is seeking a compassionate and energetic individualto join our culinary team as a Cook which is responsible for preparation of all food items per standardized recipes and production sheets. Full-time cooks are typically scheduled for four 10-hour shifts per week and every other weekend, though schedules may be adjusted as needed to support resident care and staffing requirements. Here’s a snapshot of what you’ll be doing each day as a Cook:

• Prepares all soups, stocks, and sauces; boils, braises and roasts items as per standardized recipes.
• Prepares and serves all sautéed, fried, grilled, steamed and baked items as per standardized recipes.
• Prepares or directs the preparation of all food served, following standard recipes and special diet orders. Plans food production to coordinate with meal serving hours, so that quality, temperature and appearance of food is preserved.

• Knowledge of kitchen equipment operations and maintenance. Some knowledge of nutrition and diet.
