Job summary

Hilltop Community Resources in Grand Junction, CO, is seeking a dedicated kitchen assistant to prepare nutritious meals for residents at The Commons. You will handle daily prep, cook basic soups and desserts, and plate orders with proper sanitation and presentation.

The role emphasizes adherence to health regulations and teamwork within a supportive setting. Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, 18+ years of age, and Colorado ID; Food Handler’s Card is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED; 3–6 months related experience or equivalent.
• Minimum 18 years of age.
• Colorado Identification Card required.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate ethical and professional behavior aligned with Hilltop's values and policies.
• Complete basic meal prep, daily prep cooking, and prepare soups, sauces and desserts from scratch per Food Service Manager's specs.
• Prepare and plate meal orders with proper food handling and presentation.
• Follow Colorado health regulations and proper food handling, including hand washing, temperature logs, and sanitation.
• Rotate and stock supplies per health codes and Food Service Manager's specs.
• Assist with catering duties as needed.
• Assist with cleaning and sanitizing dishes and kitchen areas; deep clean and mop as assigned.
• Inspect and maintain dishwasher chemicals.
• Address special skill requests as required.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Demonstrate ethical and professional behavior that align with the values of Hilltop's Assisted living Communities (ALCs), including Service 1, how we treat each other, and Service 2, how we treat our residents. Service 1 and Service 2 is demonstrated by setting boundaries, being predictable, consistent, kind, and transparent.
• Complete basic meal specials, daily prep cooking duties, basic soups, sauces, and desserts from scratch and to the Food Service Manager's Specifications.
• Prepare and plate meal orders utilizing proper food handling and presentation.
• Follow all Mesa County and Colorado Department of Health regulations to proper food handling including proper hand washing, temperature logs, and sanitizing of food service equipment.
• Ensure food and supplies are at correct temperature and condition when received. Rotate and stock supplies according to health codes and Food Service Manager's specifications.
• Assist with catering duties as needed.
• Assist with cleaning, sanitizing, and safely stories dishes, glasses, utensils, pots, pans, bus tubs, etc. Deep clean, sweep, and mop as assigned.
• Inspecting and maintaining proper chemicals for the dishwasher.

Education & Experience

High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED); three to six months related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum 18 years of age required.
