Job summary

Astral at Auburn is seeking a kitchen associate to store, cook, and help serve nutritious, high-quality meals for residents in a dedicated dining environment. You will help plan menus, prepare meals, maintain safety and sanitation, and support a positive dining experience.

Minimum 1 year of cooking experience and a ServSafe certification are required; a High School Diploma or GED is also expected. Compensation ranges from USD 18.00 to USD 20.00 per hour, with a commitment to quality and resident

Responsibilities

• Prepares food daily as outlined on the menus and adapts recipes for dietary needs.
• Ensures attractive presentation of food before serving.
• Coordinates and participates in serving food and monitors portion control to minimize waste.
• Maintains accurate records of chargeable meals and submits monthly to the office.
• Assists with menu planning and adjusts menus with the Dietary Manager for seasonality and events.
• Prepares meats for storage and portion control and ensures proper labeling and storage.
• Maintains a clean, safe, and sanitary kitchen environment and complies with regulations.
• Trains other kitchen staff in food preparation.
• Performs other duties as assigned and follows all policies.

In this role, you will be responsible for storing, cooking, and helping to serve nutritious high quality food and a superb dining experience to residents at the community.

Essential Functions, Key Duties, & Responsibilities

• Prepares food daily as outlined on the menus; altering or adapting recipes to accommodate special dietary needs of residents or to improve recipes.
• Ensures attractive presentation of food on the plate before serving.
• Coordinates and participates in serving food, including monitoring portion control to meet residents’ requests and minimize waste.
• Maintains an accurate record of chargeable meals (resident, guest and catered) and submits record to the office by the designated date each month.
• Assists with menu planning; reviews and adjusts menus with Dietary Manager to accommodate foods in season, vendor sale prices, special events and holidays.
• Assists in identifying food and supplies needed for the next week’s menus and reports to the Dietary Manager.
• Prepares meats for storage and portion control upon delivery; ensures proper handling, storage and labeling of all delivered foods and ingredients.
• Maintains a clean, orderly, safe and sanitary kitchen environment.
• Ensures compliance with any and all regulations.
• Assists in training other kitchen staff in food preparation.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Comply with all policies and procedures and any updates.
