Job summary

• Cooks food in quantities according to menu and number of people to be served; washes dishes.
• Cooks food according to recipes.
• Prepares, cooks, and serves food according to different diet orders.
• Bakes breads and pastry; cuts meats.
• Serves meals.
• Stores leftover food in refrigerator/freezer; dates and labels items.
• Follows cleaning schedule.
• Wears hair nets at all times.
• Informs supervisor when food items or supplies are running low.
• Maintains personal hygiene and clean uniforms.
• Keeps work area clean.
• Wears gloves while handling food.
• Documents freezer and refrigerator temperatures.
• Prepares or pulls food for the following day.
• Cleans and sanitizes work area after use.
• Cleans equipment according to schedule.
• Keeps records (inventory, meal counts) and handles deliveries with the Dietary Supervisor.
• Directs activities of one or more helpers in meal prep and service.
• Follows sanitary regulations for handling, preparation, and serving foods.
• Follows PPE guidelines when using cleaning supplies.
• All assigned duties as required.

Summary

Prepares and Cooks family style meals for residents and employees of the facility by performing the following duties:

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

• Cooks food in quantities according to menu and number of persons to be served. Washes dishes.


• Cooks food according to recipes.


• Prepares cooks and serves food according to different diet orders.


• Bakes breads and pastry. Cuts meats.


• Serves meals.


• Store leftover food items in refrigerator and freezer date and label all food items.


• Follows cleaning schedule.


• Wear hair nets at all times.


• Informs supervisor when a food item or kitchen supply is running low.


• Maintain personal hygiene of self and uniforms.


• Maintain clean work area.


• Wear gloves at all times while handling any food.


• Document freezer and refrigerator temperature.


• Prepare and/or pull food needed for the following day.


• Clean and sanitize work area after using.


• Cleans equipment according to departmental schedule.


• Keep records, i.e. inventory, meal counts. etc., as well receiving deliveries and giving records of delivery to the Dietary Supervisor.


• Directs activities of one or more workers who assist in preparing and serving meals.


• Follows and enforces the use of sanitary regulations governing handling, preparation and serving of foods.


• Follows and enforces guidelines for the wearing of personal protection equipment during usage of cleaning supplies.


• All assigned duties as assigned.
