What You'll Do
As our Cook, you'll be an important part of creating a welcoming and enjoyable dining experience for our residents.
You'll:
- Prepare and cook delicious, nutritious meals according to approved menus and recipes
- Take pride in the quality, flavor, appearance, and presentation of every meal
- Prepare meals that meet residents' individual dietary needs and preferences
- Work closely with nursing and leadership to accommodate special diets and changing resident needs
- Follow recipes, menus, portion guidelines, and established food preparation procedures
- Maintain proper food temperatures and follow food safety and sanitation requirements
- Follow ServSafe practices and applicable state and local regulations
- Keep the kitchen clean, organized, and ready for service
- Properly store food and supplies and help monitor inventory
- Work collaboratively with Dining Services and care team members
- Help create a welcoming dining environment where residents enjoy gathering together
- Listen to resident feedback and help make meals an enjoyable experience
- Follow all health, safety, sanitation, and infection prevention procedures
- Assist with other kitchen and dining responsibilities as needed
Who We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who:
- Loves cooking and takes pride in their food
- Has previous professional cooking experience
- Is dependable and takes ownership of their responsibilities
- Can work independently while also being part of a team
- Is organized and able to stay on top of multiple tasks
- Understands the importance of food safety and sanitation
- Is comfortable preparing meals for individuals with different dietary needs
- Has a positive attitude and enjoys working with people
- Treats older adults with patience, kindness, and respect
- Is willing to work weekends and holidays as needed
Experience
Required:
- Previous cooking experience
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
- Ability to follow recipes and menus
- High school diploma or GED
Preferred:
- Senior living or assisted living experience
- Healthcare or memory care experience
- ServSafe certification

Physical Requirements
This position requires the ability to:
- Stand and move throughout the kitchen for extended periods
- Bend, reach, push, and pull as needed
- Safely operate kitchen equipment
- Lift, push, pull, and carry up to 25 pounds
- Maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment
