Job summary

Presbyterian Senior Living is seeking a Cook to prepare meals and ensure quality dining services within our senior living communities. The role supports resident well-being through nutritious, appetizing meals.

Full-time position, 11:00am–7:00pm with rotating weekends and holidays. The cook role requires two years of cooking or related experience and preferred supervisory experience, plus strong communication and customer service skills.

Qualifications

• Two years cooking experience or related experience required.
• One year supervisory or management experience preferred.
• Prior experience working with seniors preferred.
• Able to fully execute a recipe and follow sanitary food handling practices.

Responsibilities

• Prepares meals and snacks in accordance with planned menus.
• Ensures meals and snacks served are palatable and appetizing.
• Complies with proper food handling procedures when preparing, holding, serving and storing foods.
• Supervises the dining services team.
• Responsible for cleanliness and sanitation of work area.
• Responsible for safety of kitchen work area.
• Assists Production Manager in maintaining proper levels of food inventory and supplies.
• Actively participates in the dining service Quality Assurance Program.

The Cook is responsible for preparing food and assuring that quality dining services are provided at all times.

Qualifications

• Two years cooking experience, dining service production or related experience required
• One year supervisory or management experience preferred
• Prior experience working with seniors preferred
• Able to fully execute a recipe
• Knowledge of sanitary food handling practices and regulations related to department
• Able to demonstrate technical skills
• Familiar with techniques of using standardized recipes
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
