Job summary

Jimmy Jazz is seeking a full-time Cook to prepare meals for in-house patients, staff, guests, and related facilities in a hospital setting. The role covers morning and afternoon shifts from 5:30am–2:00pm and 10:30am–7:00pm, with occasional 5:30–2:00 shifts and some weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities include assembling meals, ensuring USDA-compliant temperatures, maintaining logs, and keeping the kitchen clean and sanitary.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • ServSafe Manager certification required or to be obtained during training.
  • Experience in the foodservice industry preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

REPORTS TO: Dietary Manager

POSITION SUMMARY: The morning cook works from 5:30am – 2:00pm. He/She prepares meals for in-house patients, employees, hospital guests, the Beck (independent living facility), cafeteria lunch service and mobile meals. Cook may act as support person for staff when dietary manager is absent in the event of an emergency / hospital drill. The afternoon cook works from 10:30am – 7:00pm. He/She assists morning cook with any patient / hospital meetings food preparation. He/She serves lunch to the tenants at the Beck.

ANTICIPATED SCHEDULE: Primarily 10:30am – 7:00pm with occasional 5:30-2:00pm shifts. Every other weekend & 3 holidays a year (alternating Thanksgiving and Christmas)

Requirements

Education
  • Preferred: High School Diploma or GED

License/Registration/Certification:

  • Required: ServSafe™ Manager certified OR to be obtained upon training

Experience:

  • Preferred: Experience in the foodservice industry

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, required.
  • Highly developed problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to adapt to flexible work schedules and frequent interruptions.
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assembles meals for patients, employees, hospital guests,The Beck, Senior Life Solutions, mobile meals, and hospital meetings.
  • Ensures proper food temperatures according to the USDA regulations and ensures maintenance logs on freezer/refrigerator temperatures.
  • Cleans, mops, washes dishes, puts away dishes.
