Job summary

Southwest Montana Veteran's Home is seeking a dedicated Cook to lead the kitchen team and ensure meals meet posted schedules and menus. The role collaborates with the dietary director, aides, and other cooks to uphold federal and state guidelines in a skilled nursing environment.

The successful candidate will maintain time management, oversee food safety, and participate in daily operational tasks, including logs and routine storage of meat products.

Qualifications

• Must have strong time management to ensure timely meal prep.
• Leadership in the kitchen to guide staff and coordinate with dietary team.
• Experience in a kitchen, preferably in healthcare or skilled nursing.

Responsibilities

• Prepare meals according to posted dining schedule and approved menus.
• Maintain proper temperature logs and cleaning schedules.
• Pull and store meat properly and ensure food safety standards.

Cookis a vital team member who will serve as a leader in the kitchen, and work closely alongside the dietary director, dietary assistant, dietary aides, and cooks to guide all food functions implementing current federal state and local standards, guidelines and regulations that govern skilled nursing facilities, long term care and assisted facilities.

Cook Responsibilities:

• This position is responsible for the timely meal preparation of all meals consistent with the posted dining schedule and approved menus.

• Cooks must be able to prepare meals in a timely manner and have time management skills.

• Cooks are also in charge of pulling and properly storing meat correctly.

• Making sure all temp logs and cleaning schedules are getting completed.

Cook Requirements:

• Must hold a valid Food Handlers Permit

• High School Diploma or Equivalent

• Experience as a Cook or similar role

• Working in a Skilled Nursing Facility experience is a plus!
