Job summary

High Point & Affiliated Organizations in Brockton seeks a Cook to maintain a clean, safe kitchen and support patient meals in a health care setting. You will follow safety protocols, manage dietary needs, and work with a friendly team to ensure timely service.

The role requires a High School diploma or GED, physical ability to lift 50 pounds, and the ability to learn HPHAO's EMR and de-escalation practices. This is a per diem, shift-flexible position.

Qualifications

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient with basic computer skills and EMR software.
  • Able to work cooperatively with others.
  • Understand relationship between substance use and mental health.
  • Understand boundaries and ethics.
  • Comply with Federal Regulations and HIPAA.
  • Certification in HPHAO de-escalation program.
  • Maintain health screenings as required by licensing.
  • Obtain Safe Serv and Allergen Awareness certification within 6 months.
  • Attend training as directed by Kitchen Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment.
  • Report to the Kitchen Manager any changes or needs which can better assist the running of the kitchen.
  • Monitor dietary aides to insure they are completed in a timely manner.
  • Ensure all kitchen equipment and appliances are in safe working conditions.
  • Practice appropriate hygiene activities including proper hand-washing procedures, wearing hair net and gloves and adheres to all sanitary standards.
  • Always ensures safety in the kitchen area including turning off appliances, stove, etc., locking up knives, cabinets and doors when not in use.
  • Ensures proper labeling, rotating and disposing of all food.
  • Completes refrigerator/freezer temperature logs daily and immediately addresses any issues.
  • Identifies patients with dietary needs/restrictions and provides alternative meals as needed.
  • Serves food to patients in a timely and respectful manner.
  • Other duties as assigned by Kitchen Manager.

Pay Range: $22 - $27/hr experience & education dependent
Status: Per Diem
Shift:Flexible 5:30am-2pm or 10:30pm-7pm

High Point & Affiliated Organizations is a health and human service agency whose mission is to treat and prevent substance use disorders and mental illness. High Point has programs located throughout southeastern Massachusetts offering a full continuum of care for substance use and mental health treatment, including inpatient, outpatient, residential, and community-based services. Cook Requirements
  • Must present as courteous and professional at all times
  • Demonstrated flexibility and ability to perform multiple tasks
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to organize ideas in logical and clear fashion
  • Proficient and knowledge of basic computer skills and software programs including the ability to learn, use and train HPHAO`s electronic medical records
  • Must have the ability to work with others in cooperative and collaborative manner
  • An understanding of the relationship between substance use and mental health issues and/or self-help programs
  • An understanding of boundaries and ethics
  • Comply with Federal Regulations, 42 CFR Part 2, Substance Abuse Confidentiality Regulations and HIPAA Regulations
  • Certification in the HPHAO approved de-escalation program
  • Maintain all health screenings as mandated by licensing agencies;
  • Obtain and maintain Safe Serv and Allergen Awareness certification within 6 months of employment;
  • Attend all other training deemed necessary by the Program/Kitchen Manager.
