Job summary

Tufts Medical Center, Inc. is seeking a full-time kitchen position responsible for preparing meals for staff and visitors across patient, retail, and catering areas.

You will cook, portion, and present hot and cold items for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and special events, adhering to recipes and daily production sheets. Responsibilities include following HACCP guidelines, maintaining cleanliness with appropriate gear, advancing prepped items, and using kitchen equipment to prepare diverse dishes

Qualifications

• 1 year of related experience in a food services environment or restaurant.
• Training in an apprenticeship program, vocation, or cooking school.
• High School diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Follow the menu to prepare and cook food for regular and modified diet meals according to recipes and production sheets.
• Practice HACCP food production and handling principles; use protective gear to ensure infection control and cleanliness.
• Review menus and prepare items that can be prepped in advance and stored properly.
• Follow recipes and product directions for preparing, seasoning, cooking, tasting, carving and serving soups, meats, vegetables, and desserts.
• Prepare foods using various kitchen equipment to measure, mix, wash, cut, shred, and trim ingredients.

Under general supervision, this position prepares meals for staff and visitors using the Hospital's standards of accuracy, quantity, appearance and quality. This position is responsible to accurately and efficiently prepare, portion, cook, and present a variety of hot and/or cold food items for various meal periods (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner and Special/Catered Events) in all areas of food production (Patient, Retail and Catering).Hours: Full-time (40 hours/week) with variable shifts6am-2:30pm & 12pm-8:30p; weekend availability preferredLocation: TMC: 800 Washington St BostonMinimum Qualifications:1.
