Job summary

Chartwells K-12 in Dartmouth, NS is seeking a Cook to prepare and pre-cook food to corporate standards. You will set up mise en place, cook high-volume meals, and maintain safety and quality in a fast-paced kitchen.

Strong communication and teamwork are essential as you coordinate with other departments and report equipment or safety issues. The role requires proven cooking experience, a Food Safety Certification, and a certificate from a recognized cooking school, with an emphasis on accuracy

• Communicate effectively with all appropriate operational departments.
• Report needed maintenance, faulty equipment or accidents to the supervisor immediately.
• Perform other duties as assigned or directed.

Description

Prepares food in accordance with applicable corporate standards, guidelines and regulations with established policies and procedures. Ensures quality food service is provided at all times.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Prepare, pre-cook and/or cook food products as directed.
• Prepare "mise en place" (setting in place of foods, garnishes, sauces, dishes, cutlery, etc) and otherproducts as required for high volume production.
• Clean kitchen equipment after use according to health and safety policies and procedures.
