Job summary

Rainbow Omega, Inc. is seeking a dedicated Food Services Cook to join our Facilities Compliance Department.

You will prepare nutritious, family-style meals that support the health, well-being, and happiness of residents and staff in our faith-based nonprofit setting. Key responsibilities include crafting meals per approved menus, accommodating special dietary needs with the care team, and maintaining top-quality safety and cleanliness in a dynamic kitchen environment.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience: 2 years of experience in food services or related field preferred.
• Licensing: Must possess and maintain a current Alabama Driver’s License.
• Screenings: Must pass criminal background check, clean drug screen, and TB screening.
• Training: Must complete Infection Control, First Aid, CPR, CPI, and OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens training within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Craft Quality Meals: Prepare and serve morning, noon, and evening family-style meals per menus/recipes.
• Support Specialized Nutrition: Coordinate with dietician and care team for special dietary needs.
• Perfect the Presentation: Ensure meals are served timely, at proper temp, and visually appealing.
• Maintain Top-Tier Safety: Follow food handling, storage, and prep procedures to maintain compliance.
• Keep a Pristine Kitchen: Maintain cleanliness in kitchen and dining areas with routine cleaning.
• Manage Inventory: Track food costs and maintain inventory records.
• Collaborate & Grow: Participate in meetings and training, and communicate feedback about resident care.

What You Will Do (Essential Duties)

• Craft Quality Meals: Prepare and serve delicious morning, noon, and evening family-style meals according to pre-approved menus and recipes.
• Support Specialized Nutrition: Partner with our Food Staffing Coordinator, dietician, and care team to accommodate individuals with special dietary needs and ensure balanced daily nutrition.
• Perfect the Presentation: Ensure all meals are served on time, at the proper temperature, and presented in a way that appeals to both taste and eye.
• Maintain Top-Tier Safety: Follow strict food handling, storage, and preparation procedures to maintain compliance and food safety.
• Keep a Pristine Kitchen: Maintain cleanliness in all kitchen and dining areas by executing daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning routines.
• Manage Inventory: Keep records, track food accounts, and maintain a reliable inventory of food and supplies.
• Collaborate & Grow: Participate in regular organizational meetings, training sessions, and communicate open lines of feedback regarding the care of our residents.

Position Requirements

Physical Demands & Environment

• Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, reach, and handle kitchen tools.
• Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch.
• Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds independently, and assist with transferring individuals as needed.
