Job summary

UPS is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic or Industrial Electrician at its Stratford, CT facility to maintain conveyors and related plant equipment. You will diagnose, repair, and replace mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic components to keep the package-handling system running smoothly.

The position is full-time, permanent with a likely third shift. Strong problem-solving, safety awareness, and ability to read schematics are essential. Union environment with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Must be a U.S. citizen or eligible to work in the U.S.
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving
• Experience with conveyors is a plus

Responsibilities

• Inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing and/or replacing mechanical components such as motors, reducers, drive chains, sprockets, belts and bearings
• Troubleshooting, adjusting and replacing electrical equipment including control stations, fuses, motor starters and relays
• Inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing pneumatic equipment like air compressors and hoses
• Inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing hydraulic equipment such as cylinders and pumps
• Welding and reinforcing conveyor supports and structures as needed
• Performing preventive maintenance on conveyors and related equipment
