Motion Industries, Inc. is seeking a CAD Designer II to support the engineering team in designing material handling systems and automated conveyors.
You will translate concepts into detailed CAD drawings and 3D models to support project execution, working closely with engineers, project managers, production, and sales to ensure accurate designs. The role requires 5+ years of CAD drafting experience, proficiency in AutoCAD and Inventor, and familiarity with point-cloud data via Autodesk ReCap.
Under general supervision, the CAD Designer II will support the engineering team in designing and supplying material handling systems, including unit/package handling, bulk material handling, and automated conveying solutions. The role involves translating engineering concepts into detailed CAD drawings, layouts, and digital models to support project execution. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with engineers, project managers, production, and sales teams to create accurate, constructible designs and ensure seamless project delivery.
High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree, technical diploma, or post-secondary coursework in CAD, drafting, or a related field preferred.
5+ years of experience in CAD drafting/design supporting mechanical engineering projects in material handling and industrial automation systems.
Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor.
Experience in handling 3D point cloud scanning data and using Autodesk ReCap or for processing scan data and integrating it into 3D modeling.
Familiarity with creating engineering drawings, layouts, assemblies, and BOMs for mechanical systems.
Basic understanding of material handling equipment and components is required.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
May require site visits for field measurements and coordination with engineering staff. Work performed in both office and field environments, requiring adaptability to different working conditions.

If you are hired at Motion, your overall compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience which may result in total compensation outside of this range.
Compensation is from $68,000 to $88,000 annually.
