Job summary

Stantec Consulting International Ltd. is seeking a Civil Engineer – EIT to contribute to water and wastewater infrastructure projects in the Phoenix area.

You will work with engineers, designers, and project managers to advance design solutions, perform analyses, support field investigations, and prepare technical documents including plans and reports. A bachelor's degree is required, and EIT certification is expected within six months of hire.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering is required.
• Engineer-in-Training certification expected within six months of hire.
• 0–2 years of related experience; co-op or internship preferred.

Responsibilities

• Apply civil engineering principles including hydraulics, surveying and topographic mapping, geotechnical considerations, grading, and utility investigations.
• Develop and draw engineering plan sets using AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or Bentley MicroStation; includes exhibits, plans, profiles, details, and construction drawings.
• Prepare reports and design documentation including pipe design criteria and design calculations.
• Conduct due diligence, background research, and data gathering for new and ongoing projects.
• Coordinate with outside agencies and utility providers to support utility investigations and data tracking.
• Support construction-phase services, including submittal reviews and RFIs.
• Contribute to additional project and team responsibilities as needed.
• Demonstrate understanding of conveyance engineering, gravity/pressure hydraulics, site design.
• Collaborate in multidisciplinary teams; communicate clearly and contribute solutions.
• Use AutoCAD Civil 3D / MicroStation and understand related calculations and outputs.
• Communicate technical information through documentation, coordination, and collaboration.

Your Opportunity

As a Civil Engineer – EIT within the Water and Wastewater discipline, you will play an active role in delivering civil and conveyance projects that support reliable infrastructure for our clients and communities. You will work alongside experienced engineers, designers, and project managers to advance design solutions, perform engineering analyses, support field investigations, and prepare technical documentation including engineering plans, specifications, and reports. This role offers the opportunity to build strong technical judgment, take ownership of meaningful project assignments, and contribute directly to high-quality, practical solutions on major water and wastewater infrastructure projects.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Apply civil engineering principles including hydraulics, surveying and topographic mapping, geotechnical considerations, grading, and utility investigations.

• Develop and draw engineering plan sets using AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or Bentley MicroStation. Includes exhibits, plans, profiles, details, and construction drawings.

• Prepare reports and design documentation including pipe design criteria and design calculations for assigned project elements.

• Conducts due diligence, background research, and data gathering to help establish a strong technical foundation for new and ongoing projects.

• Coordinates with outside agencies and utility providers to support utility investigations, obtain project information, and maintain organized tracking systems for acquired data.

• Supports construction-phase services, including submittal reviews, responses to requests for information, and clarifications of contract documents under the direction of the project team.

• Contributes to additional project and team responsibilities consistent with the role, level of experience, and project needs.

• Demonstrates a working understanding of civil engineering design concepts, including conveyance engineering, gravity and pressure system hydraulics, geotechnical considerations, and civil site design.

• Collaborates effectively in multidisciplinary project teams, communicates clearly, and contributes thoughtful, solution-oriented ideas to design challenges.

• Uses relevant design software, which may include AutoCAD Civil 3D and Bentley MicroStation, and understands the calculations, assumptions, and outputs that support design decisions.

• Communicates technical information clearly through well-organized written documentation, verbal coordination, and professional collaboration.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in engineering required. Successful candidates who do not currently hold Engineer-in-Training certification are expected to obtain certification within six months of hire.

Minimum experience requirement is 0–2 years of related experience. Co-op, internship, or project-based civil engineering experience is preferred.

This role is primarily performed in a professional office environment using computers and engineering software. Field work may be required and may include exposure to outdoor conditions, construction sites, and inclement weather.

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
