Job summary

Carolina Container LLC in Hickory, NC is seeking a safety-conscious operator to manage the transfer car and related duties.

You will perform inspections, move stock to machines, document paperwork, and maintain orderly storage while complying with all safety policies.

A valid Lift Truck Operator License is required, and prior forklift experience in a corrugated environment is preferred.

Qualifications

• Current Lift Truck Operator License.
• Prior forklift operator experience preferred.
• Experience in corrugated industry preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain transfer car safely.
• Prepare transfer car inspection form before shift.
• Deliver stock to machines safely and on time.
• Maintain neat, safe stock stacks.
• Complete paperwork accurately and timely.
• Maintain accurate stock locations in paperwork and computer.
• Maximize equipment utilization by operating at capacity and speed.
• Adhere to daily production schedule and suggest optimizations.
• Complete required reports.
• Follow company policies and safety and housekeeping guidelines.
• Additional duties as assigned.

Job description

Summary

Responsible for all activities associated with safely operating and caring for the transfer car.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Operation and care of transfer car in a safe manner. Must be qualified to properly operate the transfer car.
• Complete and document a transfer car inspection form before start of shift and turn in maintenance work orders to supervision for needed repairs.
• Deliver appropriate stock to appropriate machines safely and on time.
• Maintain neat, orderly, and safe stacks of stock in storage areas.
• Complete necessary paperwork in an accurate and timely manner.
• Maintain accurate location of stock in storage area by paperwork and computer.
• Maximize the utilization of equipment by operating the machinery at available capacity and speed.
• Adheres to daily production schedule. Makes recommendations for optimizing the schedule to meet cost, quality, delivery and service goals.
• Complete necessary reports in an accurate and timely manner.
• Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety and maintaining good housekeeping.
• Additional duties may be assigned by management.

Able to read and follow instructions on factory masters.

Able to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy. Able to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, measurement, volume and rate. Able to apply concepts of high school math.
