Job summary

Pratt Industries in Henderson, KY is hiring a Converting Supervisor for the 2nd shift (3PM - 11PM). You will supervise 10–30 employees, maintain quality and productivity, and coordinate with maintenance on repairs and preventive actions.

You will lead safety and production meetings, enforce policies, and develop staff through coaching and performance management.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Two years’ prior supervisory experience required.
  • Preference for prior experience in the corrugated industry.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise 10–30 people in daily production with safety and quality focus.
  • Maintain quality, efficiencies, and production levels set by management.
  • Establish morale by fairness, consistency and addressing employee issues.
  • Maintain inventories of sheets, inks and converting supplies.
  • Coordinate with supervisor and Maintenance Manager on repairs and PM.
  • Lead weekly Production/Safety meetings with department staff.
  • Enforce company policies, safety program and housekeeping.
  • Directly supervise all department employees and functions.
  • Perform training, performance appraisals, discipline, and problem resolution.

Summary

Supervise approximately 10 – 30 people in the daily routine of producing quality corrugated products in a safe, productive manner with minimum waste.

Job Title: Converting Supervisor
Shift: 2nd [3PM - 11PM]
Reports To: Converting Superintendent
Duties And Responsibilities
  • Maintain quality, efficiencies, and production levels set by management.
  • Establish high morale within your department by showing fairness, consistency, and an interest in employee problems.
  • Maintain inventories of sheets, inks and other converting supplies.
  • Coordinate with your supervisor and Maintenance Manager on any repairs or preventive maintenance done in the department.
  • Conduct weekly Production/Safety meetings with departmental personnel.
  • Implement, maintain, and support all company policies and procedures, including safety program and good housekeeping.
  • Directly supervises all employees assigned to the department.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws including the following: training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; conflict resolution; team building; coaching and leading employees to improve; addressing complaints and resolving problems; documentation; and setting an example of superior behavior, attitude and performance.
  • Additional duties may be assigned by management.
EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Two years’ prior supervisory experience.
  • Candidates are PREFERRED who offer the following:
    • Prior work experience in the corrugated industry.

    • Able to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, measurement, volume and rate.

    • Equipment design and capabilities that can be translated into efficient operation. This also supports the supervisor's role of teacher and trainer for his/her personnel.
    • Cost issues in order to make daily decisions that will reduce overall costs and will help the supervisor find areas that require improvement.
    • Quality standards
    • Regulatory requirements including but not limited to wage and hour requirements, environmental and waste minimization, company policies, and personnel requirements including OSHA, DEQ and EEO.
    • Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations
      • Required to have a clamp truck license
Physical Demands
  • The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and talk or hear.
  • The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.
  • The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and vibration.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
