Job summary

International Paper in Lexington, KY is seeking a Converting Supervisor for the 3rd shift. This salaried role directs a shift of hourly employees, driving safety, quality, productivity and engagement to meet goals.

You will monitor production schedules, troubleshoot processes, coach staff, and partner with maintenance and quality teams to minimize downtime and defects. A high school diploma and supervisory experience in corrugated packaging are preferred.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Experience in the corrugated packaging industry preferred.
  • Two years of supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Direct supervisor to one shift of hourly employees.
  • Promote safety practices and ensure adherence to safety procedures.
  • Monitor production schedules, machine performance, downtime, speed, waste and efficiency.
  • Lead operational troubleshooting efforts.
  • Provide coaching, training and support to production employees.
  • Provide clear expectations, performance feedback and accountability.
  • Monitor product quality indicators and address quality measures.
  • Collaborate with quality and maintenance teams to resolve quality concerns.
  • Partner with maintenance teams to support equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
  • Maintain accurate production, downtime, waste and labor records.
  • Lead and motivate employees with a focus on safety, quality and productivity.
  • Communicate operational information at all levels.
  • Support safety, quality and other programs; perform other duties.

$83,300 - $97,200

Multiple factors, including Individual experience, skills and abilities will determine where an employee is ultimately placed in the pay range. Variable pay may provide additional opportunities for financial awards. This job is eligible to participate in IP’s annual incentive plan.

The Job You Will Perform
  • Direct supervisor to one assigned shift of hourly employees. Responsible for supervision, direction and leadership in safety, quality, productivity and engagement to ensure goals are met.
  • Support and promote workplace safety practices, by monitoring adherence to safety procedures including lockout/tagout, machine guarding and housekeeping standards. Effectively communicate safety expectations consistently and address safety concerns promptly.
  • Monitor production schedules, machine performance, downtime, speed, waste, and operational efficiency.
  • Lead operational troubleshooting efforts
  • Provide direction, coaching, training, and support to production employees in a respectful and professional manner.
  • Provide clear expectations, performance feedback, and accountability.
  • Monitor product quality indicators including board appearance, adhesive performance, moisture, and related quality measures.
  • Collaborate with quality and maintenance teams to identify and resolve quality concerns.
  • Partner with maintenance teams to support equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
  • Maintain accurate production, downtime, waste, and labor records .
  • Lead and motivate employees by setting an example of superior behavior, attitude and performance to work efficiently and effectively, while ensuring a safe work environment, and a quality product.
  • Effectively communicate operational information in both oral and written format at all levels.
  • Actively promote and ensure compliance with safety, quality and other programs and initiatives utilized within the organization.
