Job summary

Jasper Engines & Transmissions is seeking a Converter Machining machinist to operate manual lathes and perform precision shaping with basic hand tools. The role requires reading specifications, selecting appropriate machining or polishing steps, and ensuring parts meet accuracy requirements.

The position offers a daytime schedule, with potential overtime and wage increases after performance reviews within the first two years.

Qualifications

• Stand or walk entire shift (8–10 hours).

Job Overview:

There are a variety of tasks this position completes, including operating manual lathes and using basic hand tools. First, a machinist must begin the process by checking the specifications and readouts for the parts at hand. This operator then must make decisions on the type of machining or polishing processes needed to meet specifications. They calculate how to shape the piece of metal or other material that is being worked on and decide what tools will be needed. Next, machinists place the work piece on the equipment of choice and set the controls to make the cuts. While the machining process is taking place, machinists watch carefully for any problems. They monitor the speed and heat of the machine and must be capable of learning how to perform basic maintenance of the machine. Associates must be detail oriented.

Schedule:

• Monday - Friday 6:30am-3:00pm
• Overtime

Qualifications:

• The ability to lift, bend, push, pull and move materials up to 50lbs.
• The ability to stand or walk an entire shift (can be approx… 8-10 hours)
• The ability to use handheld tools such as drills, impacts, hammers, calipers, and micrometers.
• Standing: Continuously

• Stooping (forward leaning): Occasionally

Salary and Benefits:

• Starting rate $20.00
