Job summary

Collins Aerospace, a RTX business, seeks an aerospace systems engineer to contribute across the entire software/hardware integration lifecycle. You will capture requirements, design architectures, and verify systems, working with engineers to deliver robust display and avionics solutions. Qualifications

  • Proficient with high-level software programming languages and/or scripting languages.
  • 6+ months experience with developing and testing avionics or other aircraft systems.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all phases of the system development lifecycle including requirements capture, system design and modeling, integrating with hardware and other software components, system verification and validation
  • Work with systems engineers and other engineering disciplines to document derived requirements, define internal system interfaces, develop system architectures, integrate system components, and perform system verification
  • Test and debug display systems using systems integration labs, simulation environments and specialized test equipment
  • Develop automated test procedures and software tools to perform systems integration and testing
  • Learn and apply internal processes, methods and tools for systems development and documentation

What You Will Do:
  • Perform all phases of the system development lifecycle including requirements capture, system design and modeling, integrating with hardware and other software components, system verification and validation
  • Work with systems engineers and other engineering disciplines to document derived requirements, define internal system interfaces, develop system architectures, integrate system components, and perform system verification
  • Test and debug display systems using systems integration labs, simulation environments and specialized test equipment
  • Develop automated test procedures and software tools to perform systems integration and testing
  • Learn and apply internal processes, methods and tools for systems development and documentation
What You Will Learn:
  • Implementation of multiple phases of the system development lifecycle including requirements capture, system design and modeling, integration, system verification and validation
  • Application of industry standards and processes, such as ARINC 661, ARINC 664, and ARP-4754
Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering or related Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) major obtained by start date.
  • Proficient with high‑level software programming languages and/or scripting languages
  • 6+ months experience with developing and testing avionics or other aircraft systems
Qualifications We Prefer:
  • 6+ months experience with safety‑critical, real‑time, embedded system development and verification
  • Experience developing systems that are compliant with SAE ARP-4754, RTCA DO-178, DO-160 and/or DO-254
  • Experience with ARINC standards: ARINC 429, ARINC 661, ARINC 664 or ARINC 739

The salary range for this role is 57,200 USD - 108,800 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills. Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short‑term disability, long‑term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective‑bargaining agreement.
