Job summary

GFL Environmental Inc. is seeking a reliable Convenience Site Attendant to help manage daily site operations, assist drivers, and ensure proper disposal of waste and recyclables. You will greet patrons, maintain a safe and clean site, and support team members in coordinating waste pickups.

The role requires weekend availability, compliance with regulations, and a customer‑focused approach to provide excellent service to both internal and external customers at the Hope Mills site.

Qualifications

• Ability to operate any vehicle or equipment necessary to perform job.
• Strong written and verbal communication with customers.
• Basic math for daily tasks and waste calculations.
• Ability to read and understand company policies and procedures.
• Ability to solve general problems with common sense reasoning.
• Ability to follow instructions with minimal supervision.
• Physical stamina to stand, walk, and lift light loads.
• Frequent lifting up to 10 pounds and occasional lifting up to 20 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Arrive on time to assigned site and open/close the Convenience Site per schedule.
• Direct patrons in safe disposal of waste and recyclables into proper containers.
• Maintain clean site appearance by picking up litter and debris.
• Assist drivers with waste containers and cleanup of spills.
• Monitor waste container levels to ensure space for more waste.
• Operate the on-site compactor daily.
• Provide assistance to those in need with waste disposal.
• Deliver excellent customer service to internal and external customers.
• Be available to work weekend hours.
• Comply with all laws, regulations, and company policies.

• Greet each patron upon arrival and direct them in the safe and proper disposal of waste and recyclable materials into the appropriate containers.
• Maintain clean appearance of site facility and grounds by picking up litter, spillage and other debris.
• Assist drivers in covering, picking up and arranging waste containers and in cleaning up spillage and litter.
• Monitor level of waste in each container to ensure sufficient room is available for disposal of additional waste or recyclables.
• Maintain and operate compactor daily.
• Provide assistance when needed to those in need by disposing of their waste.
• Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers.
• Must be available to work weekend hours.
• Conform in all respects with applicable federal, state/provincial and local laws, regulations, ordinances and other orders and to all company policies, procedures and directives from supervisors.
• Perform other job related duties as assigned.

• Work environment is usually loud.
• Work in outdoor environment 90% of the time.
