Job summary

Rutherford County Government is seeking a part-time or full-time Convenience Center Attendant to assist residents with refuse drop-off and recycling sorting at the Rutherford County Convenience Center. The role supports safe, orderly, and efficient operations and requires good communication and customer service in a public setting.

Excellent bilingual skills are preferred. The position includes an hourly wage of $17.96–$19.27 and benefits such as employee discounts and EAP.

Qualifications

• Able to perform physical work (lift up to 50 lbs; standing, stooping).
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Basic site maintenance/cleaning skills; follow instructions and work independently.
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Assist the public with refuse drop-off and provide guidance on proper disposal and recycling.
• Monitor and manage container fill levels and supervise waste compactors and site equipment.
• Keep compactor areas and the facility clean and maintained.
• Provide information and directions to residents and ensure safety at the center.
• Respond to routine questions and report maintenance issues as needed.

As a Rutherford County Convenience Center Attendant, you help keep the Convenience Center safe, orderly, and easy for residents to use-supporting reliable Solid Waste service at a sustainable pace.

Key responsibilities include assisting the public with refuse drop-off, guiding proper separation of disposable/non-disposable and recycling materials, operating waste compactors and related site equipment, monitoring container fill levels, and keeping compactor areas and the facility clean and maintained.
