Job summary

Teamprovide is seeking a skilled Controls Technician - CNC to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical, instrumentation, and controls on large CNC machines such as mills, lathes, and grinders.

You will read schematics, diagnose root causes, perform preventive maintenance, and optimize machine uptime using Fanuc, Siemens, and other PLCs, while following safety standards and documenting service activities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with technical training in controls, electrical, or instrumentation.
• Experience in a CNC/machining environment performing maintenance, repair, and PLC troubleshooting.
• Proficiency with Fanuc and Siemens PLCs; knowledge of Allen-Bradley, Mitsubishi, ABB, and Okuma as bonus.
• Ability to read schematics, diagnose error codes, and troubleshoot to root cause.
• Strong background in PLC, VFD, electrical, and instrumentation systems.
• Knowledge of electrical safety codes and regulations.
• Mechanical proficiency with ball screws, spindles, and axis scales on CNC equipment.
• Field service technician experience from a CNC service company or manufacturer.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, troubleshoot electrical, instrumentation, and controls systems on CNC mills, lathes, and grinders.
• Operate and program Fanuc, Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Mitsubishi, and ABB CNC controls.
• Read and interpret schematics to diagnose root-cause issues and resolve machine downtime.
• Conduct preventive maintenance and advanced breakdown repair on mechanical components such as ball screws, spindles, and axis scales.
• Apply PLC, VFD, and electrical/instrumentation expertise to ensure reliable machine operation.
• Adhere to plant safety standards, including LOTO, isolated power, and heavy-lifting procedures.
• Collaborate with mechanical teams to align and calibrate CNC equipment.
• Perform root-cause analysis to reduce machine downtime and improve productivity.
• Maintain accurate service records and documentation for compliance.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives for controls and instrumentation.

Job description

Controls Technician - CNC responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical, instrumentation, and controls systems on large industrial CNC machinery such as mills, lathes, and grinders. Works with PLCs, VFDs, servo motors, relay logic, and high-end CNC controls, and supports mechanical repairs on ball screws, spindles, axis scales, and machine alignments.

Key Responsibilities:
