Job summary

Argonne National Laboratory's Facilities Division seeks a skilled Controls Technician to install, wire, and troubleshoot building automation systems, including BACnet/LON networks and DDC controllers. The role emphasizes electrical and pneumatic control infrastructure supporting HVAC and utilities.

You will collaborate with Building Controls Engineers, Maintenance Mechanics, and contractors to ensure reliable, well‑documented installations and start‑ups across the site, at PT2 or PT3 level

Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with powered (120V and below) control wiring and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control drawings.
  • Knowledge of low voltage electrical wiring standards and control components.

Responsibilities

  • Install new panels, DDC controllers, sensors, actuators, and related system control components.
  • Plan and prescribe installation approach, including required electrical components and materials lists.
  • Provide troubleshooting and technical support to diagnose and resolve control system issues.
