Job summary

NexRev is seeking a Controls Technician to install and troubleshoot building management systems across a nationwide service area. You will work with HVAC controls, VFDs, relays, and PLCs, often onsite at retail and entertainment venues.

The role requires 2+ years in electrical or HVAC control work, strong diagnostic skills, and the ability to work independently or in pairs. Travel is extensive with weekly home time and a company-provided laptop, vehicle, and cell phone allowance.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years as electrician or 2 years working with electrical/HVAC controls
• Ability to read and understand blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams
• Proficient with operating a laptop/PC
• Must be able to work at job sites independent of supervision
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with clients

NexRev, LLC provides technical products and services to multi-site, national retail and entertainment clients relating to energy conservation and efficiency of operation, including energy management and control system installation; energy retrofits for rooftop A/C units; HVAC and refrigeration system commissioning; HVAC test and balance services; and electrical metering and sub-metering installation.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Controls Technician is responsible for installing and troubleshooting NexRev building management systems connected to HVAC controls, VFDs, lighting contactors, relays, motors, and PLCs. Job sites include big box retail stores, entertainment venues, gas stations, and restaurants throughout the United States.

You will:

• Install building management systems
• Test and verify system readings to ensure optimal system operation
• Perform system checkout and perform system commissioning
• Complete and submit electronic reports following each assignment and activity

This is a traveling position with three-week routes; one-week back home. Work as a pair, or alone, depending on your experience and preference.

REQUIRED SKILLS & EDUCATION:

• Minimum 2 years as an electrician or 2 years working with electrical systems, low voltage controls, or HVAC controls
• Ability to read and understand blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams
• Proficient with operating a laptop and/PC
• Must be able to work at job sites independent of supervision
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, and professional attitude when interacting with clients at job sites

PREFERRED SKILLS:

• Controls or electrical experience in a commercial/retail environment
• Experience with computerized electrical circuits and systems as they relate to HVAC controls (electronic, pneumatic, and digital direct)
• Experience with AC / DC circuits, lighting contactors, and relays
• Knowledge of BACnet and MODBUS protocols
• Working experience with Tridium Niagara AX
• Strong controls background with any building management system

A criminal background check, a valid driver’s license and clean driving record, and drug tests are a condition of employment.

SCHEDULE:

Unrestricted overtime opportunity during 21-day route deployments throughout the United States, with an average of 60 hours each week (evening and weekend work is available to maximize your earnings while on the road). Then 7-days off!

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The Controls Technician will frequently work within mechanical and electrical rooms and may encounter hazardous or confined spaces. Employees must be able to do the following during a workday:
