Job summary

Technical Source is seeking a Controls Technician to perform loop checks, commissioning, and light troubleshooting of the Metasys BAS at a Lebanon, IN site. You will verify sensor readings, wiring, and point mappings, while supporting performance testing of HVAC and associated systems.

The role requires hands-on Metasys experience, ability to read drawings, and strong collaboration with engineers and contractors to close punch items and ensure compliant operation.

Qualifications

• 3+ years as a controls or BAS technician on commercial, industrial, or pharmaceutical projects (adjust as needed).
• Hands-on experience with Johnson Controls Metasys field controllers, NAE/SNE supervisory engines, SCT/CCT tools.
• Proven loop check and point-to-point checkout experience on new construction.
• Solid understanding of HVAC systems and control sequences (AHUs, VAVs, chilled/hot water, exhaust).
• Ability to read controls drawings, wiring diagrams, points lists, and sequences of operation.

Responsibilities

• Perform point-to-point and loop checks on BAS I/O: temperature, humidity, pressure, and flow sensors; dampers; valves; VFDs; and status/alarm points.
• Verify wiring, terminations, addressing, and labeling against controls drawings, points lists, and as-builts.
• Confirm field device readings and command responses match Metasys graphics and point mapping.
• Document results on loop check sheets and redline drawings for discrepancies.
• Support functional performance testing of HVAC and mechanical systems: AHUs, exhaust fans, chillers, boilers, terminal units (VAV/CAV), and pressurization/cleanroom controls.
• Verify sequences of operation, setpoints, alarms, interlocks, and trends in Metasys.
• Work with commissioning agents, mechanical/electrical contractors, and Lilly engineering to execute test scripts and close punch items.
• Support controller programming downloads, network commissioning, and integration checks (BACnet MS/TP and BACnet/IP).
• Diagnose and resolve device, wiring, and communication issues: failed sensors, miswired points, actuator stroke problems, and offline controllers.
• Calibrate and replace field devices as needed.
• Escalate programming or system-level issues to controls engineers with clear documentation.

Documentation & safety

• Maintain accurate test records, issue logs, and turnover documentation to GMP/GDP standards
• Follow site safety requirements, including LOTO, electrical safety (NFPA 70E), and permit-to-work

Qualifications

Required

• 3+ years as a controls or BAS technician on commercial, industrial, or pharmaceutical projects (adjust as needed)
• Hands-on experience with Johnson Controls Metasys (field controllers, NAE/SNE supervisory engines, SCT/CCT tools)
• Proven loop check and point-to-point checkout experience on new construction
• Solid understanding of HVAC systems and control sequences (AHUs, VAVs, chilled/hot water, exhaust)
• Ability to read controls drawings, wiring diagrams, points lists, and sequences of operation
• Comfortable using a multimeter, loop calibrator, and laptop-based configuration tools

Preferred

• JCI Metasys training or certification
• Commissioning experience on pharmaceutical, biotech, or other GMP projects
• Cleanroom pressurization and critical environment controls
• BACnet networking and integration of third-party equipment (chillers, VFDs, meters)
• Familiarity with GMP documentation and enterprise monitoring systems (EMS)
• OSHA 10/30 and NFPA 70E training

Working conditions

• Onsite at an active construction and start-up site in Lebanon, IN
• Work in mechanical rooms, on rooftops, and at heights using ladders and lifts
• Must pass site safety orientation, background check, and drug screen
• Must be authorized to work in the US without current or future sponsorship
