Role Description

The Controls Technician is a full-time, on-site role based in Dayton, OH. This team member is responsible for installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining industrial control systems, including PLCs, sensors, drives, and related electrical components. Daily activities include diagnosing equipment issues, performing preventive maintenance, updating control logic, and assisting with system upgrades and commissioning of new machinery. The role partners closely with engineering, production, and maintenance teams to ensure equipment reliability, improve process efficiency, and support safe plant operations. The Controls Technician also documents work performed, follows established standards and safety procedures, and supports continuous improvement initiatives on the shop floor.



Qualifications


  • Strong knowledge of industrial control systems, including PLCs, HMIs, sensors, and motor drives.

  • Proficiency in electrical troubleshooting, wiring, reading schematics, and using diagnostic tools.

  • Experience with preventive and corrective maintenance in a manufacturing or industrial environment.

  • Ability to interpret technical documentation, equipment manuals, and engineering drawings.

  • Familiarity with safety standards and practices related to electrical and mechanical systems.

  • Effective problem-solving skills and the ability to respond quickly to equipment downtime.

  • Clear written and verbal communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certificate or associate degree in electronics, industrial maintenance, or a related field preferred.

  • Previous experience as a controls or maintenance technician in manufacturing is highly beneficial.

  • Willingness to work on-site, adapt to changing priorities, and support occasional overtime as needed.
