Job summary

GENERAL PURPOSE

Under immediate supervision apply standard engineering/maintenance principles, concepts, theories, and techniques to routine assignments in support of business objectives and will be responsible for providing fundamental engineering, maintenance and expertise. Performs primary analyses to develop design options or recommendations for structures, systems and components. May apply originality, ingenuity and knowledge of other disciplines in solving basic technical issues. Emphasis will be placed on team participation, ability to plan, and ability to achieve results on assigned projects.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Applies learned engineering skills to work assignments.
  • Applies problem solving skills and executes solutions to problems independently.
  • Completes engineering and maintenance tasks within oversight of leadership.
  • Follows engineering and quality processes.
  • Managing improvement projects for Manufacturing line updates and installations.
  • Work with maintenance team to help improve and maintain machine reliability.
  • Performs additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives.
  • Takes good notes, showing work and assumptions.

  • Develop and implement electrical control systems, equipment, and machinery.
  • Installs and provides technical support of PLC based hardware and software.
  • Install and program VFD's and other electronic machine components.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field from an accredited program, or a two-year technical degree with 5+ years of relevant engineering experience or 10+ years of maintenance electrical experience.
  • 3-5 years of professional engineering experience or 1-3 years of specialized engineering experience in a related field.
  • Project management experience preferred and may be required for certain assignments.
Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to evaluate processes, identify improvement opportunities, and implement effective solutions.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to apply engineering/maintenance principles to diagnose and resolve technical issues.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate across production, engineering, maintenance and management teams.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, determine appropriate courses of action, and work independently with minimal day-to-day supervision.
  • Strong business acumen with an understanding of how engineering/maintenance decisions impact operational and financial results.
  • Proficient in standard office software, communication tools, and engineering-related applications.
  • Experience documenting technical data for project planning, process improvement, and database management.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, using electrical test equipment.
Technical Experience Preferred:
  • Machine control hardware such as PLCs, servos, drives, cameras, and robotics systems.
  • Installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of industrial machinery.
  • Familiarity with automation equipment such as Fanuc, Panasonic, Indramat and Motoman.
  • Experience with Allen-Bradley PLC/Servo/Drive systems and Siemens automation platforms.
  • Manufacturing experience in wood processing environments, including equipment such as Panel Saws, Edgebanders, CNC, Sanders, finishing lines are a plus.
