Job summary

Johnson Controls, Inc. in Ishpeming, Michigan (UP) seeks an HVAC commissioning technician to perform system commissioning, troubleshoot basic HVAC issues, and document results on site.

You will load controller software, run diagnostics, and maintain clear communications with contractors and customers while following safety standards and procedures. Suitable for candidates with 1–2 years of HVAC or mechanical experience.

Qualifications

• One to two years of industry experience or servicing electronic/mechanical HVAC systems.
• PC experience and ability to program HVAC software.
• Ability to use hand and power tools.
• Strong interpersonal and professional communication when representing Johnson Controls.
• Ability to explain technical information to diverse audiences.
• Leadership to support mechanics on non-complex Building Automation work.
• Attention to detail and willingness to learn.
• Good communication and listening skills.

Responsibilities

What you will do

Performs assigned system commissioning using Johnson Controls configuration and commissioning tools. Troubleshoots and resolves basic HVAC mechanical, electrical, and controls problems. Responds to basic warranty calls.

How you will do it.

Loads system-level controller software. Performs more complex commissioning and system diagnostics from system-level controllers to end devices (i.e., sensors, actuators, etc.) and completes all required commissioning documentation. Keeps management and JCI contractor or customer informed of job progress and issues. Calibrates systems requiring basic electronic test equipmentCompletes administrative tasks including but not limited to time sheets, expense reports, and on-site documentationDocuments changes and provides information for as-built documentation. Communicates with the JCI contractor or customer upon arrival and before leaving the work site. Follows all safety standards and attends required safety training. High degree of regard to employee and subcontractor safety.

Location is in the UP, Ishpeming, Michigan

Required

• One to two years of industry experience or experience in servicing electronic and/or mechanical systems in the HVAC industry
• PC experience required and the ability to program HVAC related software
• Able to use hand and power tools (i.e., drills, saws, etc.)
• Effective interpersonal skills to properly represent Johnson Controls to customers and other outside contacts in an ethical and professional manner
• Ability to explain technical information to technical and non-technical people.
• Leadership skills to support the activities of Mechanics working on non-complex, non-critical Building Automation equipment on a job site.
• Attention to detail, positive attitude and willing to learn.
• Good communication and listening skills

Preferred

• Knowledge of HVAC controls systems, facilities management systems, site preparation, peripheral equipment installation and servicing techniques
• Low voltage wiring skills
• Experience working with Microsoft Excel
• Depending on location, the mounting and termination of low voltage devices. May have special licensing requirements.

HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $21.92 - 30.14 (Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
