Job summary

Teknor Apex Company is seeking a Control Systems Engineer II to join our Corporate Engineering team in Pawtucket, RI. You will design, purchase, and install equipment, assist plants with troubleshooting, and develop processes for new projects.

The role requires 5–7 years of engineering experience, a Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering, and hands-on skills in ladder logic, HMI design, and networking. You will support facilities worldwide and participate in maintenance as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• 5–7 years of engineering experience.
• Strong ladder logic skills with Allen-Bradley PLC 5, SLC, and ControlLogix.
• Experience with SolidWorks Electrical and HMI design.
• Knowledge of Ethernet/IP and basic networking.
• Coding experience in Python and Java.
• Ability to evaluate project requirements and apply solutions.
• Understanding of plant power distribution and project management.

Description

As part of our Corporate Engineering team the Control Systems Engineer IIwill participate in project teams to design, purchase, and install equipment. They will assist Plants in troubleshooting and problem solving when called upon as well as design processes for potential projects.

Responsibilities:

• Design and draft elements relating to projects for implementation.
• Contact manufacturers and vendors for materials required to support proposed design.
• Receive quotes and delivery schedules on projects.
• File documentation of engineering drawings.
• Ensure Company safety procedures are being adhered to.
• Writing Ladder Logic on new projects and existing equipment.
• Perform:
  • HMI design
  • basic computer system design - Web Gateway, Virtualization etc
  • basic network design on new projects and system upgrades.
  • Control Cabinet design
  • additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
• Provide technical support for facilities worldwide.
• Participate in maintenance as needed.

Skills & Experience or Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience in a field of study such as electrical, computer systems.
• Position requires between 5-7 years of engineering experience
• Strong Skills in:
  • Ladder Logic, preferably with Allen Bradley systems. ie. PLC 5, SLC and Control Logix.
  • Solidworks Electrical
  • HMI design, preferably with FactoryTalk and Ignition
  • Ethernet/IP and basic networking best practices.
  • Coding - Python and Java
• Ability to help evaluate project requirements and apply the appropriate solutions.
• Understanding of:
  • plant power distribution equipment and controls.
  • project engineering/project management.
• Demonstrated ability to combine problem-solving techniques with innovation for best solutions.
• Have the ability to look at the big picture as well as the details. This type of analysis and decision-making is needed daily.
