A leading engineering firm is seeking an Electrical Engineer with experience in controls and fluids design. The successful candidate will be responsible for generating precise control system designs using software such as E-Plan and AutoCAD, while ensuring compliance with quality standards. Controls System Design:
- Generate controls drawings using E-Plan and AutoCAD design software
o Including: electrical, pneumatic, lubrication and flushing oil systems
- Review the work order
- Review customer product information
- Review customer specifications
- Request / Receive supplier quotes
- Notify and release parts of all hardware components to purchasing
- Maintain communication / assistance w/ the assigned software engineer
- Ensure all key controls design points have been met to the customer’s and TMC’s standards
- Adhere to project milestones and budget throughout the project
- Design drawings for custom machines, including electrical, pneumatical, flushing oil, and lubrication
- Provide a complete hardware controls drawings print package of “as built” inside the electrical panel print pocket prior to shipment of the machine
- Update drawings and Bill of Materials for final documentation
Provide Support During the Build Process
- Provide a complete hardware controls drawings print package for the shop floor
- Work closely with purchasing and the shop to record / track any open issues / open material reports that may arise and influence the pipe/ wire / debug / power on schedule.
- Create engineering change order notice records to be approved by the Head of Engineering
- Continue to support the project during the Dry Run / Machine Qualification / Machine Pre-Acceptance / Machine Readiness & Internal Run Off
- Support panel building, wiring, testing, and Field Service Technicians as needed
- Receive and update any red-lines or errors that are discovered in the prints by the panel builders or in-house
Quality
- Participate and support in Thielenhaus Microfinish Corp. quality system
- Maintain engineering procedure and ensure compliance
- Ensure all activities of the department comply with legal demands and ethical standards
Minimum Qualifications:
· Minimum of 3 years’ experience in electrical and fluids control engineering design
· Design experience must include the ability to design redundant E-Stop circuits, drive circuits and incorporate various PLC controllers and I/O systems
· Engineering capabilities must include the following, transformer sizing, power supply sizing, wire sizing, Bill of Material development, and heat calculations.
· Able to Perform Current Load, SSCR c and Panel Heat Calculation
· In depth knowledge and experience in specifying Siemens and Allen Bradley PLC and drive systems
· Understanding of controls components as they apply to mechanical designs
· Experience using E-CAD software for design of electrical control systems. For example:
o E-Plan
o SolidWorks Electrical
o Zuken E3
· Must be able to lift and move up to 10 pounds
· Must be on-site to perform job duties
· Ability to interpret and follow unique customer specifications during machine designs
· Strong organizational and communication skills
· PLC Programming skills a plus
· Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, controls engineering, mechatronics engineering, or equivalent field of study.
Qualifications:
· Experience working in the machine tool industry
· 5-7 years experience in electrical and fluids control engineering design
· Proficient using AutoCAD 2D drawing software
· Proficient using E-Plan design software
· PLC ladder logic programming skills
