Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Controls Specialist/Controls Engineer for an onsite contract role in Abilene, TX. You will design, program, and Commission building automation and management systems using Rockwell Studio 5000 and Ignition HMI/SCADA, collaborating with engineering teams and client reps.

You should have 2+ years in I&C or basebuild commissioning, strong PLC/SCADA knowledge, and solid technical communication skills.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of experience in commissioning or construction for I&C or Electrical Basebuild systems in the Advanced Technology sector.
• Proficiency with Rockwell Automation, PLC5, and ControlLogix hardware and software.
• Experience with multi-discipline large capital projects involving Owners, General Contractors, Contractors, and System Integrators.
• Understanding of Design/Build (Engineering and Construction).
• Knowledge of complex process systems architecture, Instrumentation, Device Selection, Networking, PLC & I/O architectures, P&IDs, data sheets, and SCADA.
• Working knowledge of environments common in large industrial applications such as Dry/Wet Mechanical, AWN, Gas/Chem Distribution, HVAC, and Clean Room environmental control.
• Proficiency in written and verbal technical communication, including reports and conducting group presentations.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, chemical engineering, or a similar technical field is preferred.
• Associate's degree or technical certification in electrical, mechanical, or control systems engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience working with control systems in a data center or similar environment.
• Proficiency in control systems programming and configuration.
• Strong understanding of HVAC, electrical, and building automation systems.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
• Familiarity with various control system platforms such as BMS (Building Management Systems) or SCADA is a plus.
• Experience conducting I/O checkouts.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Attention to detail and a proactive approach to work.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Abilene, TX.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $58.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
