Job summary

Focused Energy in Austin is building the future of clean energy through laser-driven inertial fusion. As a Software Engineer, you will contribute to calibrations, image processing, data handling, and the human-machine interface, delivering reliable production software from design through deployment.

You will work with software, controls, and systems engineers to define interfaces, review code, and communicate progress, risks, and timelines clearly.

Qualifications

• Experience building and testing production software in a team environment.
• Capable of delivering well-scoped features from design to deployment.
• Writes clean, documented code and uses version control.
• Understanding automated testing, debugging, logging, and fault modes.
• Able to translate engineering needs into practical software with partners.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, test, and deploy well-scoped features.
• Build automated calibration software for hardware and workflows.
• Develop image processing software for tracking, calibration, and engagement.
• Handle data storage and logging for machine and image data.
• Contribute to supervisory control systems and HMI.
• Collaborate with engineers to define interfaces and review code.
