Job summary

CNH Industrial Group is seeking a Controls Engineering Intern to join our Performance Controls team on-site in Oak Brook, IL. You will design, simulate, implement, and tune control systems under guidance from senior engineers, gaining hands-on experience with next-generation algorithms for heavy machinery.

The internship program offers mentorship, training, and housing support, with full-time hours May through August for eligible students pursuing a related degree.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree (rising senior) or Master's degree in a related engineering or CS field.
• Experience with MATLAB/Simulink and programming in C/C++ or Python for algorithm implementation.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Support the design and development of next-generation control algorithms for paving and machine performance applications.
• Build and execute simulations (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink) to model plant and machine behavior, validate algorithm performance, and evaluate design trade-offs prior to hardware testing.
• Tune and calibrate control systems on test benches and machines, analyzing test data to improve stability, responsiveness, and repeatability.
• Collaborate with electronics, software, systems, and product teams to ensure controls solutions meet functional, performance, and manufacturability requirements.
• Document methods, results, and recommendations, and present findings to the engineering team at the conclusion of the internship.
