Job description

Job Summary

The Project Manager is responsible for acquiring new projects at acceptable margin levels and managing them to successful completion. The role acts as project leader, responds flexibly to customer requirements, oversees daily activities, performs engineering controls, and is accountable for financial results while maintaining customer satisfaction.

Essential Functions
  • Lead client meetings, develop and finalize contracts, maintain positive relationships with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and industry contacts.
  • Develop and update project implementation plans; coordinate resources to ensure timely, cost-effective installation and completion of assigned projects.
  • Ensure profitable project completion, manage cash, cost, billing; produce accurate billings; maintain profitability and positive cash flow; provide financial status to management.
  • Manage engineering job processes, coordinate with controls engineering team activities, design and engineer systems cost-effectively while ensuring quality and customer satisfaction.
  • Oversee project construction for compliance with specifications, codes, materials, installation techniques, and safety; obtain customer approval of detailed job submittals.
  • Manage material procurement, monitor usage, cost, inventory; obtain lead time discounts.
  • Plan and monitor commissioning and checkout before release to owner/operator; ensure job completion documentation.
  • Assign technical resources for problem resolution; proactively evaluate potential problems and initiate corrective action.
  • Coordinate on‑site visits for service personnel and ensure a smooth transition to service.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with customers, prime contractors, subcontractors, and trade personnel; schedule and attend progress meetings; provide detailed instructions to installers and subcontractors.
  • Ensure adherence to safety standards; maintain a high regard for employee and subcontractor safety.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering with 10+ years of related experience OR associate degree with equivalent experience.
  • Five years’ experience in the construction industry.
  • Ability to operate independently with discretion to consult when appropriate.
  • Familiar with construction trade labor practices.
  • Ability to represent Sunbelt Controls and communicate with customers at varying technical levels.
  • Basic level of ALC programming and operational experience, or willingness to acquire.
  • Demonstrated integrity and experience developing new business.
  • Strong interpersonal and project management skills; able to handle a high volume of issues.

Physical Requirements
  • Regularly lift up to 30 lbs; frequently lift up to 50 lbs; occasionally lift up to 100 lbs.
  • Required to stand, walk, use hands, reach, sit and talk or hear.
  • Specific vision required: close vision and ability to adjust focus.
  • Occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Noise level usually moderate.
  • Must be a responsible multi‑tasker; regular attendance required.
Hours

Monday through Friday, 6:00‑7:00 am to 4:00‑5:00 pm with one hour lunch. Eight hours per day required; occasional overtime possible.

Competitive Wages

$73,000 to $95,000 annual salary. Compensation determined by multiple factors including skills, experience, certifications, and location.
