Job Overview

The Project Manager is responsible for acquiring new projects at acceptable margin levels and managing them to successful completion. The role involves leading projects, responding flexibly to customer requirements, overseeing daily activities, performing engineering controls, ensuring financial results, and maintaining customer satisfaction while balancing financial goals.

Responsibilities
  • Lead client meetings and develop contracts to finalize sales, maintaining positive relationships with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and industry contacts.
  • Develop and update project implementation plans, coordinating resources to ensure timely and cost-effective installation and completion.
  • Create full project estimates, drafting written proposals, and contracts, and ensuring profitable completion of each project or task.
  • Effectively manage cash, costs, and billing, produce accurate billings in required formats, and keep profitability goals and cash flow positive.
  • Coordinate engineering job processes with controls engineering team activities; configure, design, and engineer systems cost‑effectively while maintaining quality and customer satisfaction.
  • Oversee construction compliance with specifications, codes, material, installation techniques, and safety activities; obtain customer approval of detailed job submittals.
  • Manage material procurement, select and order materials, monitor material usage, cost, inventory, and obtain lead‑time discounts when possible.
  • Plan and monitor commissioning and checkout before release to owner/operator; ensure complete job documentation.
  • Assign technical resources for problem resolution and proactively evaluate potential problems, initiating actions to limit negative outcomes.
  • Review customers’ systems during installation, identify improvement areas, provide estimates for additional work, and pursue value‑added change orders.
  • Coordinate on‑site visits for service personnel and ensure a smooth transition to service.
  • Develop and maintain viable relationships with customers, prime contractors, subcontractors, and trade personnel; schedule and attend progress meetings.
  • Provide detailed instructions to installers and subcontractors, ensuring clear understanding of project expectations.
  • Adhere to safety standards and maintain high regard for employee and subcontractor safety.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering and 10+ years of relevant work experience, or an associate degree with equivalent work and engineering experience.
  • Five years of experience in the construction industry.
  • Ability to operate independently while exercising discretionary judgment to consult with others when necessary.
  • Familiarity with construction trade labor practices.
  • Strong interpersonal, project management, and organizational skills to handle high volumes of issues.
  • Ability to represent Sunbelt Controls and communicate with customers at varying technical levels.
  • Basic level of ALC programming and operational experience, or willingness to acquire these skills through self‑directed training.
  • High integrity and dedication, with demonstrated experience in new business development.

Physical Requirements

Hours

Monday through Friday, beginning between 6:00 am and 7:00 am and ending between 4:00 pm and 5:00 pm, with one hour for lunch. Eight hours per day are required; occasional overtime may be necessary.

Compensation

88,000 to $116,000 annual salary, depending on experience, certifications, education, and location.
