Qualifications

  • 2+ years of project management experience in electrical, electronic, or automation engineering.
  • Experience managing projects from design through production with strong planning and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and client management skills, including negotiating with customers.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and PM tools (MS Project, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio).
  • OSHA 30 certification or ability to obtain within six months of hire.
  • PMP or PRINCE2 certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

The Position

As their Controls Project Manager, you’ll take ownership of project delivery from planning through completion, driving schedules, budgets, resources, and key deadlines. You’ll lead cross‑functional teams, partner with Team Leads and customers, and make critical decisions to keep projects moving forward. This is an opportunity to expand your leadership, take on greater responsibility, and make a direct impact on the success of complex controls projects.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Lead projects from start to finish, managing timelines, budgets, goals, and key milestones to keep everything on track.
  • Build and manage project plans, working closely with engineering, installation, and other teams to coordinate resources and keep work moving forward.
  • Work with contractors and vendors, preparing project requests, setting expectations, and making sure deliverables are completed as planned.
  • Manage project changes and challenges, identifying potential issues early and working with the team to find solutions that keep projects on schedule and within budget.
  • Track project progress and results, using project data to improve processes, reduce costs, and help make future projects more successful.

Qualifications and Candidate Background

The ideal candidate will have:

  • 2+ years of relevant project management experience, preferably in electrical, electronic, or automation engineering.
  • Experience managing projects from design through production, with strong planning, organization, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Strong communication and client management skills, including experience working with customers, negotiating, and building strong partnerships.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and thrive in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project management tools, including MS Project, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio.
  • OSHA 30 certification or ability to obtain it within six months of hire.
  • PMP or PRINCE2 certification is a plus.

Location

This role is based in Grand Rapids, MI, with approximately 30% to 50% travel required.
