Job summary

Gilbert Mechanical, a Legence company, is seeking a Controls Project Manager to lead temperature control and building automation projects in the Minneapolis–St. Paul area.

You will estimate, plan, and oversee budgets, coordinate field teams, and ensure safe, profitable delivery. The role reports to the Controls Department Manager and requires at least 3 years of PM experience in temperature controls or BAS, strong leadership, and excellent communication.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of successful project management experience in temperature controls or building automation.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and communicate with stakeholders.
  • Experience managing project budgets and financial performance.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications

Responsibilities

  • Estimate, develop, and sell temperature control projects for commercial customers.
  • Manage multiple controls projects from inception through completion.
  • Coordinate and support field personnel to ensure successful project execution.
  • Monitor project budgets, costs, schedules, and overall financial performance.
  • Communicate project schedules and activities with customers, subcontractors, and internal teams.
  • Lead and participate in jobsite meetings as required.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve project issues and conflicts proactively.
  • Develop and maintain strong customer relationships to support repeat business and long-term partnerships.
  • Ensure projects meet customer expectations, quality standards, and company objectives.

The Controls Project Manager is responsible for the successful execution of temperature control and building automation projects. Reporting to the Controls Department Manager, this role oversees project estimating, planning, financial performance, and customer satisfaction while ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and profitably.

Key Responsibilities
  • Estimate, develop, and sell temperature control projects for commercial customers

Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3 years of successful project management experience within the temperature controls, building automation, or controls construction industry
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong leadership, organization, and communication skills
  • Experience managing project budgets and financial performance
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
Preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
  • Experience working with commercial HVAC controls and building automation systems (BAS)

Base Salary: $80k-$135k. This role is also eligible for an annual performance‑based bonus. Bonus eligibility and payout are determined by role, individual performance, and company performance, and are not guaranteed.
