Responsibilities
- Create detailed specifications and develop the necessary hardware and software systems.
- Lead medium to complex projects.
- Develop project plans, schedules, budgets, and other project management activities.
- Mentor other Engineers and Technicians.
- Identify areas of improvement.
- Dissect quotes, compare sales/estimating documents with set standards.
- Schedule and facilitate reviews.
- Track project financials.
- Develop staffing and project implementation plans.
- Identify and coordinate third‑party contacts, ensuring Standard Work and department processes are followed.
- Check and approve all system drawings, verify design, and check drawings and BOM for compliance.
- Initiate technical design reviews.
- Develop composite for cabinet location and network routing.
- Define safety system design approach and identify scan points and barcode requirements.
Qualifications
- Requires a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field and 5 years' experience as a Controls Engineer, Electrical Engineer, or closely related occupation.
- Requires 3 years' experience with Allen Bradley PLC and HMI; CET Designer Maestro Design Tool; Studio 5000 suite; C#; Operational Equipment Efficiency Code Generation; FT View Studio; Visualization using ICONICS 64; Emulation with Emulate3D and Factory Talk Echo; AutoCAD Electrical; guiding complex material handling systems; testing and commissioning electrical and software aspects of conveyor systems; control cabinet design; installing and configuring material handling system controller hardware and software; and using fieldbus protocol conversion and conversion devices.
Up to 40% domestic travel to various unanticipated locations.
Telecommuting permitted but must be within commuting distance of a Dematic Corp. field office in Grand Rapids, MI; Atlanta, GA; Plano, TX; or Wauwatosa, WI. HQ in Grand Rapids.
