Job summary

JSET Automated Technologies is seeking a Controls Programmer to develop, implement, troubleshoot, and support industrial automation systems across the Sterling, VA region. This hands-on role blends software development with field commissioning and real-world troubleshooting.

The ideal candidate will have experience with DDC/PLC systems, HMI development, and related protocols, and will collaborate with field technicians, engineers, and commissioning teams to bring complex automation online.

Qualifications

2+ years of experience programming industrial automation or building automation systems.
Experience with Niagara, Ignition, PLC-based systems, or Rockwell platforms.
Ability to read electrical drawings and sequence of operations documents.
Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

Program, configure, and troubleshoot DDC controllers and PLC-based systems
Develop control logic, sequences of operation, alarms, trends, schedules, and point databases
Create HMI graphics, dashboards, and operator interfaces
Configure and document BACnet, Modbus, and related communication protocols
Support field commissioning, startup, and testing activities
Troubleshoot control logic, communication, I/O, and device integration
Collaborate with field technicians, PMs, engineers, and commissioning teams
Support FAT and SAT activities
Maintain backups, version control, and docs
Assist with system optimization and performance improvements
Support project turnover and closeout
