Job summary

Martin Marietta is seeking a Controls Manager in the Central Division, based in the Kansas City area. The role focuses on troubleshooting and maintaining PLC controls for multiple plants, coordinating electrical repairs, and guiding upgrades to improve plant performance.

The position requires deep experience with PLCs, HMI/OIT systems, and industrial networking. Occasional travel and leadership of a maintenance team are part of the role.

Qualifications

• Troubleshoot and maintain PLC-based plant controls across the region.
• Handle 120V AC and 24V DC control systems.
• Work with VFDs, soft starters, and 4–20 mA I/O signals.
• Support MTU/OIT and HMI systems; coordinate with vendors.
• Lead and train automation staff and contractors.

Responsibilities

• Lead safety and MSHA compliance on automation tasks.
• Coordinate in-house automation repairs and upgrades.
• Research and implement upgrades to improve capacity and reporting.
• Collaborate with engineering and external vendors to meet deadlines.
• Provide startup assistance for new projects and 24/7 on-call support.
