Job summary

Amazon Data Services, Inc. is seeking a seasoned Controls Manager to lead on-site teams in the Pacific Northwest, focusing on BMS/EPMS deployment and service within Amazon data centers.

You will interpret electrical and control diagrams, develop launch plans, and coordinate multi-disciplinary project execution to ensure on-time, on-budget completion. Travel up to 25% domestically and guide team development from interviewing to deployment, while delivering clear documentation and stakeholder

Qualifications

  • Experience leading controls in manufacturing or complex industrial environments.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent engineering science plus 10+ years of relevant controls experience, OR 14+ years of relevant controls experience in lieu of a degree.
  • 5+ years of managing, mentoring, leading, and coaching controls professionals.
  • 6+ years of controls management for large, complex projects involving mechanical, electrical, and controls systems.
  • 6+ years of general contractor and vendor management experience for controls and project execution.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret electrical diagrams, control diagrams, building operations, control circuits, and industrial HVAC systems.
  • Define project scope and specifications based on customer needs.
  • Manage project engineering to align scope of work with design intent.
  • Read, interpret, and implement specifications applicable to the work environment.
  • Develop drawings for control panels, power distribution, and junction boxes, including general arrangement, internal layout, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Create logic diagrams for complex devices such as PLCs and distributed control systems.
  • Perform inspections, testing, and commissioning of facility systems.
  • Coordinate project work internally and externally to ensure on‑time, on‑budget completion.

Basic Qualifications
  • Experience leading controls in manufacturing or complex industrial environments.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent engineering science plus 10+ years of relevant controls experience, OR 14+ years of relevant controls experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Worked with cross‑functional teams to deliver complex construction projects.
  • 5+ years of managing, mentoring, leading, and coaching controls professionals.
  • 5+ years of hiring, promoting, disciplining, and developing controls teams.
  • 6+ years of controls management for large, complex projects involving mechanical, electrical, and controls systems.
  • 6+ years of general contractor and vendor management experience (RFPs, bidding, change orders, quality control, RFIs, and submittal tracking) for controls and project execution.
  • 5+ years managing deployment of complex electrical and mechanical controls systems, including large‑scale power distribution or generation and cooling systems.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or other engineering science.
  • 8+ years of managing, mentoring, leading, and coaching controls professionals.
  • 10+ years of project management and vendor management experience.
  • 4+ years of experience in data center system‑level architecture and electrical engineering principles.
  • 4+ years of experience in data center system‑level architecture and mechanical engineering principles.
  • Experience designing data centers or critical MEP infrastructure.
  • Certified Professional Engineer (PE).
  • Prior AWS/Amazon experience.
  • 5+ years of military service.
