Job summary

TREW is seeking a controls estimating engineer in Ohio to design, estimate, and optimize control system solutions for warehouse management projects during pre-sales. You will collaborate with internal teams, vendors, and market partners to craft robust, cost-effective proposals and lead future tool development to enhance efficiency.

You will review specifications, develop labor and material estimates, participate in pre-bid meetings, and mentor junior engineers while driving winning solutions

Qualifications

• BSI/BSEE/BSME/BSCS or equivalent combination of experience and education.
• 3+ years in warehouse management industry.
• Extensive knowledge of automated controls systems.
• Understanding of electrical field wiring, PLCs, VFDs and scanner station solutions.
• 3+ years of experience with electrical device layout.
• Strong client follow-through skills.
• Able to prioritize and multitask in fast-paced environments.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, Visual Basic.
• Ability to perform system audits on existing control systems.

Responsibilities

• Assist sales team in managing pre-sales controls estimates.
• Review proposal specs and drawings and participate in pre-bid meetings to determine scope.
• Develop estimates for engineering hours, hardware, and subcontracted services.
• Lead concept review meetings as required.
• Prepare sales proposals, documentation, and customer presentations.
• Support customer sales presentations.
• Report proposal status to management.
• Meet with customers to discover project requirements.
• Manage as-sold documentation and deliver to project team.
• Mentor less experienced engineers on industry and technical knowledge.

Job description

Controls estimating engineers are responsible for the designs, applications and specifications of material handling control system architecture & hardware designs during the pre-sales phase of a project. This position plays a key role within the pre-sales process and works closely with internal teams, vendors, and Trew's Market Partners to design creative, robust, competitive controls project solutions that meet or exceed customer specifications for a winning solution. This position identifies project resources along with hardware requirements for the scope of work that has been developed and generates estimates for the cost of labor, material, equipment and subcontractors. Finally, this position will lead the development on the next generation of control system tools to drive efficiency and automation of tasks / processes / workflows within the presale organization.

You’ll be…

• Assisting the sales team in managing pre-sales controls estimates

What You’ll Need…

• BSI, BSEE, BSME, BSCS degree or equivalent combination of experience and education
• 3 or more years of experience in the warehouse management industry
• Extensive knowledge of automated controls systems.
