Job summary

BMW Manufacturing Co., LLC in Spartanburg, SC seeks a Controls Engineering Co-op for Spring 2027 to gain hands-on experience in controls engineering, project support, and digitalization initiatives.

You will contribute to energy reduction, uptime improvements, and process digitization while developing documentation, dashboards, and basic apps. Enrollment as a student is required for the term.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree in Electrical/Electronics/Robotics/Mechanical/Computer or CS with strong mechanical aptitude.
• Knowledge of electronics, C/C++, Java, VBA, or PLC programming is strongly desired.
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team.
• Detail-oriented and organized.
• Must be enrolled at a US accredited four-year college or university.
• Completed at least 30 credit hours by application time.
• Work full-time on-site (40 hours/week).
• Attach unofficial transcript.

Responsibilities

• Get to know new technologies and different fields of work.
• Support in idea generation, proof of concept, process development, and best practice transfer for continuous improvement projects.
• Assist data visualizations/dashboard creation for Assembly management.
• Create or review technical and user documentation into a webpage.
• Set up low-code app development environment and create basic app framework, test, and iterate.
• Lead assigned or self-initiated projects focusing on process improvements.
• Provide real-time production support for issues related to new technology.
• Troubleshoot IT incidents related to new technology.
• Support new tool installations/modifications/moves in Assembly.
• Train production associates in proper tool use and system function.
• Lead or assist in line trials for new use cases.
• Communicate achievements at end of each semester.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
