Job summary

ConMet is seeking a Controls Technician to join the Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, and Controls Engineering team in the United States. You will design machine controls, troubleshoot production equipment, and collaborate with Controls Engineers on projects to build and optimize controls systems.

The role offers hands-on experience with Rockwell-Allen Bradley, Cognex, Keyence vision systems, and Fanuc cobots/robots, supported by an experienced engineer.

Qualifications

  • Satisfactory freshman year GPA 3.0 or higher.
  • High School or entry level AutoCAD knowledge preferred.
  • Ability to complete cooperative education program per college/university guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Designing machine controls within the engineering team.
  • Troubleshooting manufacturing machinery and improving productivity.
  • Reducing cycle times and analyzing machine faults with counters.

Job description

The responsibilities of the Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, and Controls Engineering team will include:

  • Designing machine controls
  • Troubleshooting manufacturing machinery
  • Improving machine productivity by reducing cycle times
  • Analyzing machine faults and implementing counters
  • Enhancing machine safety with redundant sensors

The Controls Technician will work with various technologies, including PLCs, vision systems, drives, cobots, and robots. Their activities will be supervised by an experienced Controls Engineer, and they will be assigned to projects to build machine controls. Additionally, they will assist in troubleshooting production equipment during regular production shifts, collaborating with Controls Engineers.

This role offers the opportunity to gain hands‑on experience with software such as Rockwell-Allen Bradley, Cognex, Keyence vision systems, and Fanuc Cobots/Robots, providing several practice hours in real-world field activities.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Satisfactory completion of freshman year with a minimum GPA of 3.0
  • High School or entry level AutoCAD knowledge preferred
  • Ability to complete the cooperative education program in accordance with their College's or University's guidelines
